Columbia has worked closely with all USA Curling members since announcing its multi-year sponsorship in early fall, and the custom jerseys, jackets, pants and accessories have been developed specifically for the unique needs of athletes. Technical elements include 4-way stretch fabrics to optimize mobility, abrasion-resistant materials and the brand’s exclusive Omni-Wick™ technology for accelerated moisture evaporation. Between international matches, the team will stay warm and focused by wearing jackets insulated with Omni-Heat Infinity, Columbia’s striking new gold metallic technology.
Technology is only part of the story with the new uniforms, which will be worn by athletes and coaches of the men’s, women’s, mixed doubles and wheelchair national teams. The defining aesthetic captures the energy and national pride behind this growing sport. The graphic features of the curling uniforms include four non-linear stripes across the chest to represent the four team members competing on the ice, while the “curling” swoops represent the movement and movement of the stone as it slips on the ice sheet. Cascading stars and stripes across the chest honor each state represented in the Olympics, and lightly blended with the patriotic red, white and blue jerseys, a pebble pattern recalls textured ice.
